Sproul Building Co., Inc. (previously Sproul Blalock Pate, Inc.) was formed in 1994 by Robert G. Sproul, Jr. Sproul has been a developer, general contractor, and builder since 1963, the year he graduated in civil engineering. He started his own company, The Mall Company, in 1979 and developed and built malls, strip centers, hotels, and office buildings until 1990, when he sold his properties. In 1994 he entered the residential development and home building business with Windsor Subdivision, a garden home project located off Rocky Ridge Road in the Vestavia, Alabama, area. After completing this project he built several houses in Brook Highland, Highland Lakes, and Brooks Ridge subdivisions. For the past three years he has developed the Bridgewater Park subdivision in Hoover, Alabama, and the Eagle Nest subdivision in Shelby County, Alabama. Bridgewater Park was ready for house construction in March, 2005, when ground was broken on the first house. When completed the subdivision will have 52 houses, all constructed by Sproul Building Co., Inc. Eagle Nest, a fourteen house subdivision in the Eagle Point area off Highway 119 is approved for site development, and should be ready for houses in 2009.

The Sproul Company of Alabama, Inc. was formed in 2003 to develop residential subdivisions so Sproul Building Co., Inc, would have houses to build and sell.

Sproul holds Alabama builders licenses. Additionally, Sproul holds an Ohio general contractors license, and P.E. and C.P.A certificates in North Carolina and New York, respectively.
